Nada, I've seen this but been never understood what the white things were. Foam? Yes she is using shapes cut out from foam, probably to save on wool Thanks Nada that's what I thought, but wasn't sure since I can't read Russian. :-)

Fantastic pebbles, Jill. I hope you don't lose interest since you need to have many for a rug. Here is a tutorial if any of you find it useful. www.livemaster.ru/topic/1172491-teplye-kamushki The pebbles here are actually felted into a wool base which has cotton gauze (or some other loosely woven material) on the bottom. I've just spotted this post. Thanks for the tip - using a foam base is a great idea. I've only made 8 pebbles so far and decided that it wasn't such a great idea after all to make a whole rug - perhaps just leave it as a small heat pad for the table!! However, you've inspired me with this foam idea - it's a great way to use up those odds and ends of carding waste etc. and the foam will make it much lighter and not need quite so much wool. Perhaps I could get the grandchildren to make some during the summer holidays - make them work for their keep!!
