I just looked through my photos, and this one isn't too bad. It seems the trick to capturing anything hairy or sparkly is to photograph it on an angle!

Beautiful! Is it a sample or is it going to be something else?

Photographing anything with a shine is a real challenge. I run a blog site for my Senior's Art Guild. I try to photograph the work that is hanging on the walls at shows, but most of them do watercolor with glass over it. Even when I don't use flash, it just doesn't work. I even stand at an angle, but there is still a glare from the lights on the ceiling. I read about a box that can be constructed to put your work in that has black sides and lights coming from above and below. But who is going to all that trouble? Professional photographers have the know how and equipment. But they want to be paid, of course.

Thanks Pam and Ruth It's a sample for now, I'm working on a felting project for either ebooks or workshops, so my samples are piling up Judy if you google 'homemade lightbox' you'll probably find quite a few tutorials for making one, I know there are some for making one with modular pvc piping you can get at Lowes. A black or white cloth on a table works well enough for me, but there's not much can be done when stuff is on a wall behind glass Ask them to photograph it for you in the frame without glass before hanging.

I am laughing because, this is a Senior Art Guild. Most of our members do not even have a digital camera, don't have computers and never heard of a blog until I brought it up that we need one. Most of them have never seen it. But, I have hopes that we will someday get younger Seniors. Until then, I just take their pictures standing next to their artwork and post it on the blog. I don't have the energy to build a lightbox. Maybe when I become famous. lol

Oh, I never thought of them not having camers etc The pvc lightbox I saw had 12 pvc pipes all the same length and 8 3-way elbows (connectors) to make a cube. The pipes just slot into the connectors in about 5 minutes. You cover with sheeting, have your background cloth or paper and position a lamp through a gap above (or the sides etc wherever you need it)
