Awaiting delivery of extra heddle blocks. Peter bought me a 2nd heddle for Xmas, but didn't realise I'd need another pair of blocks. Meanwhile,I'm spinning up some Zwartbles blended with Black Shetland for a warp. The Zwartbles gives a bit more strength and the Shetland softens the Zwartbles.

Judith, whilst that sounds like you are having good fun, I only recognise a few words..... ! Are you hoping to go to Woolfest this year?, I am, would love to say hello.

Tracey - All being well, I will be going to Woolfest again this year. I usually go on the Friday, my theory being, rightly or wrongly, that it's likely to slightly less busy. Will it be a long trip for you? It's about an hour and a half for us - across the A66.

No it wouldn't be a long trip, worth it anyway! We went on the Saturday last year, but Friday would be my preferred option too for the reasons you state. It was £8 entrance fee last year and £10 this year.

Judith that's really interesting about mixing the fibres, it was the yarn festival last year that got me going with spinning - and it was the Edinburgh yarn festival last year that got me going with weaving, have you done double heddle weaving? you'll have fun with it, I got myself in a mess first time then I bought Liz Gipson's video instruction when I could see the visual it helped me no end. I also bought pick up sticks they are useful for double heddle work (if I remember rightly) and for regular patterning too.
Next week I am starting an intermediate spinning class and a rigid heddle loom class (the plan is to make a fabric that will become a piece of clothing!!! well that's the plan!!! :-)

I have many ideas in my head and one or two on paper. My second set of heddle blocks has been dispatched, so I'm waiting for the postie then I'll be able to play. I was fortunate to get Jane Patrick's Crafty class a while ago when it was a FREE offer which includeses several double weaving techniques. Pick up sticks were part of my loom package but I've not used them much yet. I'm envious of your courses - enjoy! I did a 2 day spinning course with Ruth Gough when I bought my wheel and I'm considering a return visit to learn more. Perhaps we might all meet up at Woolfest 2017, which would be very nice. I wonder if Galina will be there with her felted fish.
