What a wonderful use of your Fauvist piece! The bag looks great.

Thanks Lyn, it isn't a very big bag. Next time i take another color fabric for the innersite, now you can't see the difference.

Love them both, Tracey and Jifke. I too hate adding zips but they are so useful! The last bag I made had the zipper inserted and taken out three times before I was happy with it!

This challenge was tough and I thought it was going to be easy! The above is my second attempt, and no, I am not showing my first attempt (too embarrassing). My felt picture was made mostly by wet-felting using dyed merino wool, and the glass vase is a little piece of open weave fabric felted in. The flowers, curtain track and opening-window frames are needle-felted in using yarn, then free motion stitching defined the curtains and interior window frame. The picture measures 50 x 36cm (20" x 14") and I stitched it to a pale blue stretched canvas. The inspiration for the piece came from a painting by Henri Matisse 'The Open Window'.

Lyn, your second attempt was well worth it. It's gorgeous. I know what you mean about too embarrassing to show. I have a pile of those. :-). I'm struggling with this one as well.

I love it Lyn! When I saw your piece, I immediately thought of "The Open Window". Didn't know the name of it or the artist but I had seen it in researching Fauvism and your piece brought it immediately to mind. I agree it wasn't an easy challenge.

That's great Lynn, the concept of using a window as a frame is so classic & so strong. Love your curtains.

That is really wonderful Lyn, very very clever. The vase is really good, and yes the curtains look like they could be closed, but obviously you wouldn't want to hide a view like that.

Lyn it's beautiful, and especially lovely in this cold weather, I love how you have put your own spin on it, and the machine stitching defines the areas so well. Really love the vase, you are so clever :-)

Great bag Viltmaanaan. I like the stitching on it. Lyn great window view. Did you do the stitching free motion or just reg. stitching with it all being so strait. the curtains are fab.

Thanks Ann! No it's free motion stitching - it may look straight-ish in parts if you are viewing it on a small screen, but if you could see it full-size you would really notice the wiggly lines.

It will make a lovely cushion cover Marian! I like the detailed foreground against the bold, colourful mountains and sky, and I'm looking forward to seeing it with the free motion stitching.
I agree with you that the challenges give us new ideas.
