Galina, I think the display also depends on the place to be..are you in a nice warm cozy house, like a museum or in a very big hall, more like a market place. I think you have a very neat display in that environment. I had my fist fair yesterday and the day before. On the advice of the organisor I made a lot of DIY packages making gnooms or wallets. I sold just two of them...(they hung as a slinger above my table wich was 4meters by 2 meters). On the left I put all my different kind of wool, then my gnooms in a half circle in the middle (to invité people to come) and on the right I put all my felted objects, lampshades , hats, soaps, slippers. (Yes Teri, I sold my Rainbow Hat, i made on your course . I thought it was a little bit a mess, I had too much..but people came looking and I think it was because of the circle I spared in the middle..that was were they attracted to... and they didn't see a seller right away because of the slinger with all those packages..so they felt more 'free' to look, i suppose. I have some pics, but not close-ups. For my it was a good fair, i 'll do it again. See here: goo.gl/photos/cGid1kiafFwrK7ee9

Guess who was my neighbour? WOOL TOPS !! Keighley , Yorkshire. UK !! Ofcourse I bought wool from him, and second day when we leave , he gave me a pair socks , lovely !! The other neighbours were a couple who came from the Pyreneeen., they drove 1600km and they portraying the old times until now with weaving (using stones at the end), kind of an open air museum. It was hold in a manege.

I'm limited by what I can fit in my granny trolley so have no room for fancy stands or racks. I do use suggestions given to me here though (Ann, I think) to use the boxes I take stuff in with covers on for different heights.
I wouldn't even go near table 1, I'd worry I'd knock the whole thing over, and I'd have to see it more clearly, but table 2 looks like one idea repeated many times.
I like seeing different things and colours, it's inviting. I think if people feel comfortable touching, and picking things up and like they won't knock something over or mess up a display, they'll engage more.
With felt, I often see people warily, almost secretly having a feel, and I always say 'feel free to touch and try things out' and put samples for people to feel too.
I like to feel that the items being sold are what had all the time taken over, and not that the packaging/display had as much time/effort/consideration etc.

Samples is a great idea Zed! I was going to make a small cardboard display with different kinds of wool just to show to people when they ask questions. Never had time for it unfortunately...

What an interesting fair with the sheep around the outside and the stalls in the middle. I am glad you di well. a warp weighted loom. They are so cool to see. I would love to try one. My friend Jan has one but no place to set it up at the moment.

I just have 4 pieces, Felicity: Herdwick, Alpaca, Wensleydale and Camel. They're varied enough in coarseness/softness and texture/character too. Oh, and colour!

I take a small ramekin dish (I wonder whether that's an English only word?) - in it I have small pieces of roving - 1 natural, 1 with silk, a couple of interesting colours of merino, a couple of locks. I found that people asking me how I made my items often had blank faces when I said 'wool fibres', necessitating a longer & more complicated conversation! Sometimes in Greek - impossible for me! Now I can show them the roving, it's a good shortcut I find, I can easily demonstrate pulling off a few fibres & tell them about using water & olive oil soap & lots of work with my hands.

Don't you love those blank stares knowing they have no clue.
