Carole - We only sold a few hats, in fact we didn't sell a great deal, but we made a reasonable profit and were pleased with our first foray as Craft Fair Sellers. How are you getting on with spinning the alpaca? I'm just spinning some for the first time. I was advised to spin it raw, which I did with a small amount. However, I found it so difficult to get it clean at the setting stage. I've washed the rest and it's beautifully clean, white and incredibly fluffy, ready for spinning.

Ditto Carole's comments. I can't say any of them better!

I love the coiled yarn Judith and I think the wrap turned out great. It looks warm and comfy.

Yes, Judith I like the yarn too, I have tried it but found it difficult . Did you learn it yourself or did you take a class?

Learned from Youtube Vitmaaran, I wasn't in control, even though I was treadling slowly, the fibre was dictating where we were going and I was just trying to keep up with it. I'm thinking of taking a class in making decorative yarns with Ruth Gough at Wingham. She taught me the rudiments of spinning on the wheel and is a great teacher.

Judith, I have considered washing Jonjo's fleece but it is very clean, it came from gbalpacas.co.uk/ in Dumfries, you can speak with them and say what you want the alpaca for and they will give you the correct cutting (the woman is a spinner too) they have already dressed and were recommended to me by a renowned spinner Janet who wrote this book amongst others createwithfibre.co.uk/janet's%20books/knit%201%20bike%201%20-%20the%20project.html Having said all that when I wash it after plying the water has a brown hue :-)I really like spinning the alpaca I just tease out the curly ends - it must be a 'first cut' and then straight onto spinning. I have fallen on my feet moving to Gullane as I am lucky to be with the haddingtonspinners.wordpress.com/Between them and the spinners on this site I am one very happy bunny :-)

"Clarissa and the Countryman" sprang to mind when you mentioned where you are. I've just found one in Wensleydale and I'm hoping to get together with them in the New Year; replacement car and weather permitting! It's a beautiful drive over there, but in winter can be problematical.

Beautiful yarn, Judith. Are you going to use it for felting or knitting?

Nada, I may incorporate the yarn into some weaving.
