This is a bit late but I think we need a new post for this month. What are you working on today? Has anyone done any Remembrance Day felting?

I think you call it Veterans Day, November 11. In Canada we call it Remembrance day.

Armistice Day, Rememberance day, 'Poppy Day'.
I've been making up kits for workshops ... blending batts and then cutting yarns and cotton guaze, and picking out embellishment fibres in matching colours.
I now have lots more scraps, mostly bits from eyelash yarns!

Yes, I've been remembering my Welsh grandfather who was in both world wars, as he got older and smaller his medals got larger!! bless him a real character. I have also been busy working on my needle felting skills and having fun with woodland creatures and people www.facebook.com/BagsaLicious/

Remembrance day was also on tv in the Netherlands, they rember the fallen soldiers at the end of WO1 1918. And now there are coming little kids at the doors with a lampion singing a song and will be given some candy, it is called St.Maarten (look Wikipedia ). I have also been busy making kits for a fair in december "Midwinterwol " and I 'm doing the hat class of Teri . So....busy enough...but do it with love..

I've been working on viltmaaraan's Christmas card... I think. If I don't like it when dry then it won't be viltmaaraan's card after all! ;-)

Carole - your needle felted characters really have some personality. I have been working on Elizabeth's card but didn't like the first one. On to the second attempt

All I have managed is unpacking form the weekend and some sketching. I am still thinking about the cards I am making. I think I best get a move on.

I made some felted soaps this weekend to have gifts on hand. I'd also like to make a stock up for a church bazaar this spring.
Ladies who sell their soaps - what type of soap do you use? Do you find people to be picky? The nice hand-made soaps are a bit pricey. Also, what fineness of fiber do you use? I'm assuming most use merino, but I have quite a broad range of micron counts that I can use.

I used 23 micron dyed merino - World of Wool. To make a little profit on the felted soaps you need to find a good quality soap at a clearance price. I was lucky enough to find some really good bars of soap at one fifth of the usual retail price - I cleared the shelf! I think lightly scented goes down well with customers. The first thing most people do is sniff the soap and if there's no smell there's no excitement.

I make the first round of tiroler bergsheep(mountainsheep) and than wrap merino around it. I buy soap at the Action, 4 for the price of almost 2 euro's And today I made mine mascotte It Fryske skiepke . See here ; goo.gl/photos/ohPE2aRhBAoDnSop8
