Ladies ... I have never had the luxury and pleasure to touch these fabrics ... till tonight!
I can almost breathe it in! It is truly silky soft, lighter than a feather! I didn't even know that something like that could even exist!
Now I am even too scared to felt with it! <LOL>
Regards Linn

Just start with a small sample so you can see what it does. Then you can decide how to use it and know the shrinkage etc.

I know what you mean! It is so soft and luxurious! Too precious to just play around with. You don't want to waist it. Good advise from MTRuth to make a small sample. I once used it and you could not see a thing after the felting was done.

I just nuno felted with Margilan silknfor the first time today. Wow does that felt quickly! The first shawl I did as nuno felt took forever to get the finers to migrate because I was using sari silk. This was so different!
I wonder whether Margilan allows a larger micron wool to felt…it seems that oerhaps with such sparse silk, a lot more wools might work. Can someone tell me about their experience with this?

Can someone tell me about their experience with this? It works well because it is a very loose weave - many fewer threads per inch than sari type silk. This means that the "holes" in the silk (between the threads) are much larger and allow the fibres to get through more easily and quickly. I have not, to my recollection, tried nuno felting with any fibres coarser than merino, but I am assuming that the looser the weave the coarser the fibre will work with it.

I have experimented with Margilan combined with other fibres such as Corriedale and Bergschaf and found they overpower the silk so I prefer to use mine with Merino
