Viltmaaraan, I can agree wholeheartedly with Marilyn--retirement is wonderful! So much time to do so many wonderful art projects. All that downtime is a recipe for happiness and unbounded creativity. YES!

A classmate of mine has already retired and I keep grinding away. I guess that's her bonus for having stuck with one employer for 20+ years. I'm lucky if I can make it 2 before the grass looks greener!

This is the baby bonnet I made for the challenge. It is made using some leftover merino, a smal piece of prefelt for the lining and a piece of sheer curtain fabric that had little pink leaves on it. It turned out to be small baby size rather than toddler, so I have resized the template to have another go at getting the size for Amelia Jane who is 18 months old. I am going to knit a fluffy band around the face and am still considering whether to add the ears she wanted - they are made - but I think they overdo it a bit on this size bonnet.

That bonnet looks so soft and snuggly - I like the little bit of pink that peeps through.

Finished the bonnet - used an old ball of fluffy wool for the face frame and some locks needle felted to soften the little ears. Cannot get a good angle to show the whole bonnet well. Scraps included curtain sheer with pink leaves on it felted in, left over wool and a few locks I have never used before. I moved an old chairinto my studio and sat in the sun to knit the band and sew it together- why didn't I think of this before now? Lovely sitting in the sun and looking out over the garden.
