It's great! It really does look like a rock pool.

This is mostly re-cycled felt and it's a UFO - great fun - thanks for the challenge Ann! 'The Fingerpost' is a textured picture approx 50cm x 34cm (19.5" x 13.5"). Photo of texture, below, is a little dark but I had to turn my overheads off to catch the little bit of natural window light to get shadows to show the texture.

That's really nice Lyn - love the textures you achieved and the sign post really makes the piece.

Great texture and very creative use of scraps, Lyn. I agree with Ruth the signpost finishes it.

I love that, Lyn. I didn't think I had enough off cuts & scraps for this challenge. You have proven me wrong. Thanks!!

Bravo, Lyn! Your recycled scraps and bits were so creatively presented. Brilliant!

Wow Lyn you and Marian have set our bar pretty high. Lovely original work - and with scraps no less...well done!

Great Lyn. that's quite a big picture. The sign post is a great focal point. Did you hand stitch the words or are you very good with the machine?
Elizabeth it doesn't have to be only scraps. You can just use some scraps or UFOs to make a new piece with new wool.

Fair point above Ann - the white base of the picture was not scrap - it was four new layers of white merino wool fibres. The project was an UFO in as much as I'd sketched out the idea and started to chop up the felt by last autumn. All the top layer, the colour, is made with felt scraps and the signpost is scrap white felt. Ann - I handstitched the black text and outlines and handstitched the 'fingers' on, but the post was machine stitched on with a fine white zig-zag down both sides. Thank you all for your kind comments. By the way, this fingerpost really does exist - we've visited Lands End and The Lizard many times - this is a stock photo from Alamy and in the distance you can see 'The First and Last Refreshment House':

Modge Podge was big in the early 70’s. We would make collages from cut magazine pics and photos and glue them to wood. The Modge Podge was then slathered on top to make it waterproof.
