Ok, so don't tell me you haven't looked at the plastic net bags that contain food items and thought 'hmmmm, texture?'
I put down some white merino and two bits cut from green and orange plastic net bags and set to thinking 'this might be good when it starts to shrink'
Duuh!! It took a few moments for the penny to drop, then I realised that the net would simply concertina in with the wool as it shrunk. Anyway, I carried on with the experiment and the plastic felted in really well (surprise) but of course it did contract with the wool although not evenly and it did make a wavy pattern.
Just realised that the piece is at my daughter's, so if anyone is desperate enough to want to see a photo, I'll email her to take a shot and send it to me.

Wow, Lyn and Zed. Thank you for the experiment and results. Lyn, I would love to see yours also, whenever you get a chance.

Zed - I used the really hard plastic ones, not the ones that look like plastic stringy net. I've just taken a photo of one to show you and I can't work out how to put it on this reply.
I've emailed my daughter to ask her to take a photo of the piece of felt I left at her house (she lives about 40 miles away from me and I visited last Wednesday and took it with me for her to have a laugh at).
btw, now that my eyes have stopped watering from the searing colours, I can see that I like the way those stringy ones felted in Zed.

They would make great fishing nets or trellis in a scene. Not that I could make them look like that but one of those talented people could.

Small reveals of this net could look quite good on a bag perhaps, though the volume may need to be turned down on the contrast! :0)

Yeah, sorry about the colours, it did make it hard to see which pics were blurred or not I'm not sure what the hard ones are, Lyn, unless they're like the garlic ones-almost collapse and are expandable?

Zed - I'll post the photo of the hard ones in a new thread.
