I made a version of Ruth and Deb's psychedelic pattern using wet felting and needle felting (with merino wool tops and yarns). See original postPsychedelic design means bold colours to me, so I chose the most shocking yellow, orange, green, purple and pink merino wool tops to work with. I made a wet-felted base from 'lightning' white merino wool tops - finished size 37cm x 35.5cm (14.5" x 14") then needle felted a spiral onto it using a variegated yarn. I made small pieces of felt from all the bright colours to cut up then needle felt into place. The grid is needle felted from black yarn. When I'd finished I thought that it was "ok" but that it lacked something. As I was working on it, all I could see was a duck and worms and a net. So I just had to add eyes and I've called the piece "Duck Nets Worms". 3 photos in ipernity

Wow, this is amazing, how did you manage to the get the yarn spiral so perfect?!! Using beads for eyes was inspired too. It must have taken you hours to needle felt the black grid but well worth waiting for!

I see a snakes & ladders theme. It's really interesting; the straight line 'net' offset by the wriggly 'worms' & those bright colours.

Wow, this is amazing, how did you manage to the get the yarn spiral so perfect?!! Using beads for eyes was inspired too. It must have taken you hours to needle felt the black grid but well worth waiting for! Well, I tried freehand spiral needle felting - then realised that it was tooooo tricky. So I downloaded a free black spiral image, then put it into 'Word', cropped it into quarters, expanded each quarter to A4 size, printed them off, then stuck them together to get a big spiral. I placed the pattern on the white base then marked the centre/beginning of the spiral with a tailor's tack (shame the duck went right over the middle of the spiral as I think it would have been good to have it on show, ah well). I cut away an inch or so of the pattern, along the spiral line from the centre, then needle felted the variegated yarn against the cut line. I contined cutting and needling until I'd done the lot. My eyes were like spirals by the time I'd finished! Hours 'n' hours 'n' hours of single-needle prodding. It's very calming on the mind - less so on the old eyes.

Ann- that is very odd, I have Norton Antivirus on this computer and can access Lyn's photos without any issues. Is there a setting to reduce the antivirus sensitivity?

I am getting so frustrated. norten ativirus will not let me go to ipernity. are the pictures anywhere else? Oh dear Ann. I only opened the ipernity account today to store photos away from the forum to save space (in case I can't link to them from anywhere else). I only have them on my computer. Can you access the forum via your smart phone?

Oh nooooooo! I just spotted that I forgot to put an eye on one of the worms!
Maybe I'll just brazen it out and pretend that it was deliberate.

This is brilliant, Lyn! It makes my eyes ache just thinking about how much you'd need to concentrate!
Ann, it was because of Norton (or Norton vs McAfee which invited itself one day when I downloaded some adobe update) that I couldn't access most of the internet a while ago. I think there is something you can click to allow a site as safe, but I'm not sure if that's in the browser settings or Norton.

Lyn this is wonderful, so much detail, it reminds me of Celtic knot work you don't where things start and finish.
