I might start on some samples today for the well-being centre(s). We're trying to aim for a more structured course, but still be flexible for people who drop in.

Cathy, There are no Saori Studios or teachers in Michigan that I know of. I have two 4 shaft looms, so I do Saori style weaving on them. I belong to two different Saori groups on Raverly, so I participate with one of them, with their weave-a-longs. WALS here is a pic of me and my first Saori Weaving that I made into a tunic. www.ravelry.com/projects/SundownAlpacas/saori-weavingYes, I love Saori Style weaving as it is so creative and no rules to follow. I became bored with traditional weaving.

aaah!! This is definitely my community. I TRY to do similar projects, but I seldom succeed. Using the same resist for 3 projects was my limit. I actually have been fibering some - finishing up some more ornaments to slip into very late holiday cards. I'm also going to practice sewing on a new-to-me machine. I found a nice used Pfaff a few months ago so I'm going to work on learning all the features. I hope to try some embellishing on finished felts.

I broke my wrist falling off my bike in November but didnt get it xrayed till it had set itself just before Christmas !! It is still pretty sore but I think I can start felting again. I am contributing to the Briswool project, which is making areas of Bristol (UK) in woolly replicas, either knitting, crochet or felt. I am doing several shops on our local street. It is a huge project which has already been on display but is now in storage & being added to, before going on display again later this year at our local museum. You probably know that all the pieces have to be frozen for 3 weeks beforehand to kill all critters & their eggs ! New to me ! Anyway, I find it easier to get on with joint projects like this than do my own stuff ... i have just been making similar new year resolutions to do something creative every day & to GET ON with all the felting projects in my head ! I really have no excuse as I am retired & frequently ask myself why I procrastinate so much ... any ideas Finally (thank you for reading this far !) I have vowed not to buy any more wool till I have made a BIG hole in my supplies !

Lots of good ideas here, good luck with your machine Elizabeth, Francis I think your sparkly fibres are angelina they need to be mixed well with merino and they do felt in, or iron them (over grease proof paper) and they become a solid fabric. Love the alpaca lifestyle, very envious. I have a rare day to myself and I have been playing with my overlocker making arm sleeves/ arm warmers/ arm worms - for one I cut up a felted scarf I had made - which I liked but it ended up sitting with all the other projects - New Year New Lease of life. Old jumpers washed to felt stage and then linked up together.

Liz, you are correct--no Saori studios in Michigan. Closest to you would be Philly, I think. Closest to me is the one in Minnesota. I viewed your Saori weavings--quite lovely! Would like to try the shrug/bolero you made. I have some yardage but have not yet attempted to make any clothing. Chicken!
Carole, I really like that you are re-using pieces to craft your wearables. There’s great satisfaction in that.
So inspired by all of your projects!

Sonia, So sorry to hear about your wrist. The Briswool project sounds huge. I'm not sure how well I'd create with others. I can barely play well with others (ask my husband!!) I too am trying NOT to buy any more wool, embellishments, fibers, etc. Unfortunately, some fabric for a casserole tote jumped into my basket over the weekend. I "need" it to practice sewing. Sigh.

I made my nuno pieces for the drop spindle I am getting. I made 5 small pieces and will have to choose one for the spindle. They are drying now.

I made a start on my challenge piece but I'm already thinking I have bitten of more than I can chew, this is going to be a "learning experience"....
