I stitched an owl onto card for an art therapy course. I'm working on pictures and sketches to do some representations in stitch, and thinking of ideas for using fabric too.

Cathy - I agree with Teri's comments. It is very "calm" right now. Just depends on what you want.
Teri - I commented on your blog post but I really like these. Did you wrap around something for the edges?

Very cool bead work stations. I like the patch work Terri but I can see how it's not very exiting to stitch. My daily dose today was to rinse out the dyeing I started yesterday. It is always a surprise. They always look like they are solid colours before rinsing. They are drying now.

got my package in the mail today to Nada - would like to make a scarf tomorrow for the person who took care of my bird while I was on my thanksgiving trip.

I think Teri is right, Cathy. But knowing how you like neutral, I think the grayed colors you chose will give it a bit more character without popping out. Althousgh, the pink may need a little more graying down unless you use it sparingly as an accent. I look forward to seeing it finished.
Teri, the sewers helpers are cool.

Teri - what a great idea! They're lovely. Cathy - As already said, it depends on the mood you want to create. Patchwork can be vibrant or calm. Marilyn - harping back to previous comments - we have grey rather than gray! When I read American books I find myself proof reading. I should think it's the same for you when you read "the Queen's English"

Teri, those are sew cute - although the word 'codpiece' popped into my head when I saw the third one LOL. I wonder whether that word will confuse anyone on the other side of the pond?!

Thanks all for comments/suggestions for my 9-patch. Calming can be a good thing…I think that is what I am seeking.
Teri, love the sewers’ helpers--I will run over to your blog to get the details.
Jill, OK, I am biting--what’s a codpiece (surely not a piece of cod?)

Ha ha, Jill! I made a 'thing' with black Mohair tops not so long ago and introduced a few people to the word 'Merkin'

Jill, OK, I am biting--what’s a codpiece (surely not a piece of cod?) I'm at work, so this was dicey to look up, but I couldn't resist!! I had to get the definition quickly so the images were not shown too long. A codpiece (from Middle English: cod, meaning "scrotum") is a covering flap or pouch that attaches to the front of the crotch of men's trousers and usually accentuates the genital area.

I never can decide how to spell grey/gray. And I knew the word codpiece from reading all those historical novels.

Cathy - I agree with Teri's comments. It is very "calm" right now. Just depends on what you want. Teri - I commented on your blog post but I really like these. Did you wrap around something for the edges? Yes, I used a resist around the edge and then stuffed it to get a cushion. Like all the best ideas, this was born from a disaster, I was using lots of resists, trying to make a coral polyp but messed up and found myself with a tube around a disc of felt, wondering whether I should cut it up to make something else when the pin cushion idea came to me. please post a photo if you decide to make one

Not sure if Blackadder (tv show) has made it over the pond but most of the male characters sport some quite impressive codpieces in the one with queen Elizabeth I (Queenie with all the red curls).

Terry, oh Yes, Black adder has been here. It is very funny. I don't like Mr. Bean but Black Adder is very good.
