I made a felt picture and placed silk on the top of the petal shapes. After wet-felting and when it was dry, I applied acrylic paints using cocktail sticks and a sponge (a brush didn't work). I like the texture created by the nuno felt and acrylic paint.

Beautiful Lyn! Are those nepps in the center or beads? Really great texture.

Cool Lyn - I like playing with other media and adding to felt as well. Your piece turned out beautifully.

Quite lovely, Lyn! Which colors are painted with acrylics? Thank you. I mixed a few acrylic colours together and applied three different yellows to the petals of the rudbeckia (using a cocktail stick and sponge) and I applied pink, pale blue and white to the lacecap petals (using a bathroom sponge that I cut to a sharp edge). I tried putting white stars on the green but gave up after doing five because I couldn't get the effect I wanted.

I am confused. Are the purple petals felt or something else. they look like they're are on top of it but not quite part of it. It is very nice by the way I like the texture and colours.

I am confused. Are the purple petals felt or something else. they look like they're are on top of it but not quite part of it. It is very nice by the way I like the texture and colours. Sorry Ann, I didn't explain myself very well. I made four circular layers of merino wool in greens then put pink, lilac and yellow merino on top in petal shapes (I also chucked on a few tiny, coloured bits of scraps of pre-felt for fun). Then I cut petal shapes from yellow/orange silk for the rudbeckia and I cut petal shapes from pink/blue silk for the lacecap. I wet-felted it all together. The yellow silk isn't so prominent but it was thinner than the blue/pink silk and it felted in a more than the blue/pink silk that attached to the merino fibres but didn't 'melt in'. In the bottom-right of the close-up photo you might be able to see how the blue/pink silk is more prominent than the yellow. p.s. I very carefully shaved the nepps to reveal the colours clearly.
