Here is my latest venture I've booked myself onto a research course as I have recently started as a volunteer with Alzheimer's Scotland and will be running felting workshops for people with dementia.
I am keen to develop a piece of research around this work looking at dynamic cognitive engagement for people with dementia, its kind of linked to another recent idea I had, but local and more appropriate to what I am interested in - I may need support - are you in?
In fact you may also fancy joining me and run something similar in your own area, do say as I can share the course, it's free, you don't need to have research experience and I feel its much needed.

I'll help in any way I can. Just remind me I said so. Sorry, I just realised how flippant that could sound given the theme, but I have cognitive impairment and forget things constantly.

What a great idea Carole, I admire your commitment. I used to work with people with dementia and I'm sure they will enjoy the interaction. You'll have a lot of fun too - believe me! We use to have craft sessions and it's rewarding to re-awaken someone's creative side even if it's just for the moment. Having retired and left this type of work behind, it's not something I would want to commit to myself, but if I can be of any help on the support side then I'd be happy to share my thoughts. Good wishes for your venture.

Thank you for your support everyone, I think I need to learn to spell research first!!! I'm not interested in the one to one caring side, that sounds awful, I am caring but I want to see if felting will awaken an emotional link, a very crafty friend has offered to help me too, so it wont be such a big committment. Tomorrow I'm off to tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/stitch-in-time-a-knitting-cabaret that should give me food for thought plus a great show

Care is (or should be) holistic and art therapy is one aspect, if you weren't caring you wouldn't even consider doing this. Enjoy the Fringe.
