After what seemed forever I finally felted again this week. I made two bowls/vessels - I purchased some lots of roving from Opulent Fibers when she had a sale. I got it just before I took my trip and had not really looked at it. I took out about 20 different colors of merino that I thought would compliment each other and dry felted them into circles and then used them on the vessel with the beige background. On the blue/green vessel I used the green gauze I dyed using acrylic paint (see post under dyeing). I wrote a tutorial about making these using a ball as a resist and the washer and dryer for felting them shadyrr.wordpress.com/2015/07/04/bowl-on-a-ball-washerdryer-felting/ - If you would like to use the tutorial on the studio page you may - it must be time consuming to keep coming up with posts.

Cool bowls Frances. Of course, my favorite is the teal/turquoise one. :-). Yes, it is sometimes a challenge to come up with a new post every week. Thanks for the offer. I may take you up in it I'm traveling a lot the next two months. :-)

I love the turquoise one too, although like them both - those turquoise colours are the ones I always gravitate towards. Great tute too!

Very nice bowls, Frances, and quite creative. My fave is the circles bowl, and thanks for the floral tip. If one doesn’t have a front-loading washer, does your felting technique still work for top loaders? I don’t think that size ball would fit. Was the felt firm afterwards?

A great tutorial. I have not Nuno felted a shape, but started many hats, with a ball just wet felting. I will have to try this. Thank you for sharing. Liz

Thanks for all the kind comments - It will work in a top loading machine with a smaller ball but you are correct that ball will not fit in my top loading machine (I have a front loader at the beach and a top loader at our other home). If it will not fit in the washer just use the dryer - but keep re-wetting it.
And yes the longer you "wash" or "dry" it the firmer it gets. The blue is not as firm as the other one. I got the shape and look of the blue one I wanted and it is felted enough to hold its shape so I stopped with the fulling.

Great job Francis. I like the green one best. I like the way the fabric hangs out of it.

Thanks Zed, when I was in the corporate world I wrote manuals/handbooks and learned how basic and detailed when writing instructions one must be since you never know your audience's level of competence in a particular subject. Also here I think it is probably important to use simple words since much of what we write may be translated. When I am making something I will try to keep doing a tutorial in mind and take photos.
