Thanks everyone. It has been most enjoyable, and yes it would be great if I have inspired a few kids to want to do more felting in the future. I do think there is one or 2 in the class, as one girl told me she showed her mom how to make felt balls, and also made a felt mobile at home. I was impressed by this. I encourage them all to do more, and compliment them on there work.
Frances, I'm trying the felted pencil idea you mentioned to me before. The kids seemed to like the sound of this one last week.
I must also say that working with the kids has inspired me in my own work, as i never thought I would be doing felt beaded necklaces, jewelry a year ago. This morning I created a felt bracelet adding silk this time, and found I liked it a lot. Now instead of buying jewelry I can make my own.

Hi Marilyn Here are some of the pieces I've been playing around with. I was also inspired by Fiona's jewelry class from this year. I started the class but did not get through it all, but never-the-less more inspiration. For the bracelet, I used a pipecleaner as I knew it would not shrink. I then felted around it. I like this a lot. For the ropes, I used the technique I learned in Fiona's class which I found works better for me. This was my first sample, so I see where I can perfect it more. For the beaded necklace, I'm not sure If i shared this before with you all. This is a class I am proposing to teach in the future, if I can get enough students.

Wow, you did a great job, I bet those kids were proud of themselves to take those things home.
I know what you mean about colour - I did a session with some 10 year olds last summer, making felt flowers - they made 2 circles of felt & these were sewn together with a few beads/ buttons & put onto a hairband. When they'd chosen about 6 colours I had to advise them to stop! They were having fun but were in danger of making brown sludge. if pink & red & orange are all good, why not add some purple & blue & green & yellow?!!

Josie, the jewelry is great. Super idea to use a pipe cleaner. The kids will love making those necklaces. Thanks for posting the pictures!

That looks like so much fun - love all the things the children made - Bath time is probably more fun when you have your own bar of soap.

thanks Ladies, We sure had a lot of fun. Frances, the kids loved the pencil idea and we even finished 5 minutes earlier today. I will share photos tomorrow when I upload them.
Jill -I would like to have a session with older kids in the 3-5th grade as well, so I can teach them how to string their own beads, and attach the findings. I do know what you mean about the color thing.
