Grr, I don't know what I did but I lost this post half way through The Euro is low against the pound at the moment (1 Euro is about 74p) so i thought I'd look at Woolknoll online shop. They don't have much info though, just list things as 'Dutch wool' and even have something listed as 'arctic fox', I'm fairly sure it isn't any such thing, what it is is anyone's guess though. Is anyone familiar with the site or know what products actually are? www.wollknoll.eu/shop/wool/if it doesn't come up in English, look for the flag at the top right, unless it makes more sense in German?

Oh, that's what I said before, some things are listed per Kilo (why Europeans use a comma instead of full stop is baffling) and some per unit (100g I've seen so far).
It's like click bait, you have to see all the details to know what you're getting for the price. I thought a Kilo of Wensleydale was about £2.60, but it's 100g, still not bad though.
And what do they mean by 'fleece'? I thought it was raw wool, but it looks more carded than the washed wool, so I'm guessing it's combed/carded, but not roving or tops?

There are arctic foxes but I can't imagine anyone is combing clipping their fur while they are alive. The pound is really low against the dollar right now thanks to Greece so now is a good time to order form the uk if you are in North America

The pound is low too? I heard the Euro is low against the dollar, but I didn't hear about the Pound. £1 is $1.50 so it might be down a bit, a couple of cents. I might just go for it and fill a trolley up

I am ordering from Wollknoll all the time and generally happy with it. Even with costly delivery it comes cheaper than from most British suppliers (if you order in bulk). But I've never ordered such an exotic stuff as arctic fox! And yes there "fleece" means carded wool in batts. If you are in doubts contact them, the customer service is quite good.

Thanks for that Felicity I've just had a good look through the site and there's lots of interesting stuff. I copied some down and converted to GBP, of course the prices could change any time, but they should be right today. Here's a PDF if anyone is interested: zedster66.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/woolknoll-prices.pdf

I should say that's just wool/animal fibres. The silk fibres and silk fabric is cheap too.

Just remember of delivery cost. It's not very clear on the site. I paid EUR 15,71 for 3.5 kg last time I ordered. It was long ago though...

If it is artic fox they are probably harvesting dead animals. I just recently learned that how bison is harvested.

Yes how things are harvested is not always pretty but I suppose with bison they are as least using all the animal. The artic fox is not very fine and I would have expected it to very fine and the price is really cheap so I am thinking it's a mistranslation of something.

Yes, it is a good price, but what's the shipping? Dreamspin Fibres has the best price in US or Canada I've seen at $20.

Shipping might get us for sure. The ones you buy her come from Germany. They are for watering bonsai trees. There used to be only one place to get them . I don't know if that's still the case.

I don't think it's really arctic fox, they have a listing for 'fox sheep', and there's a sheep called 'Coburg Fox sheep', which is probably what it is. I didn't read the shipping info properly yesterday, I read for inside Germany. Up to 5kg (ll lb) Looks like EU countries pay €17 or £12.70 non EU €30 Canada/US €36 CA$50.64 US$40.55 WoW is £15 up to 1kg for US/CA which is just over US$22 I'll have to add it all up to see if it's worth it
