I have been talking with a store that sells Ashford Drum Carders... What do you all think of Ashford Products?? Does anyone have a Ashford Carder???
I am am thinking it would be best to buy the Ashford XW drum carder because I like useing the batts in wet felting..
But she seems to think the New Ashford Wild Carder which is very narrow . Photos below. What do you all think?? I would appreciated any and all advise??? I think I would get more use with the wider one??
I have an Ashford carder (the wide one) and I'm happy with it.
Storage is always tight with equipment isn't it? I use a plastic storage box, minus lid and placed upside down, as a cover (had to cut a slot for the handle). There's room under the carder and within the box to store the carder's 'bits and pieces'. It means that I can place light 'stuff' on top of the carder when it's not in use and the cover keeps it clean.
I'd agree with a wide one. The price of the wild carder here is very expensive, so I can only guess it's similar there, and I personally can't see the benefit of it unless you're piling locks on. Also, the batts on a regular one make quite a thick batt, like at least two layer thickness, any thicker seems like it wouldn't be great for felting. ( I should say that's on the presumption the batts end up more like wide tops)
