Hello Zed. For your information, they did not look like locks when she was done hand carding them. Very sad indeed.. I did not think people carded their locks???

I had to stop that video before I saw what she did to those locks! It became a horror movie at that point.

Thanks Lyn, I'll keep practicing both methods, think I like your hand mixing better than my dog brush carding.

I enjoyed watching the hand carding…didn’t she make that look easy?

My new computer is off to be fixed for the second time. so back to not being able to watch videos. Not much point in separating out the nice curls, carefully washing and then carding them. Especially at the price of them

I had to stop that video before I saw what she did to those locks! I missed something, but can't find what? But then I may not want to see it...

My contribution to the 1st Qtr. Color Challenge: DMC Tapestry Wool by catwycliff, on Flickr So I bought a load of DMC “deadstock” wool tapestry yarn before the color theory challenge was announced. After fooling around with paints, I tried to make a color wheel from the tapestry yarn; however, I realized right away that I did not have any primary colors in the lot, except perhaps one skein of yellow. No red, no blue. So I decided to make a secondary and/or tertiary colors wheel, but even that is incomplete. Think I’m done with the challenge!

Good job Cathy - you got fairly close. It is hard to get the colors you need for a color wheel because they don't end up exactly the color you need. Even when I dyed my own, I found that the tertiary colors were not exactly what I wanted. I just use it as a learning opportunity so the next time I look for thread, I say to myself "Now I need to look for a blue-violet or a red-orange so that my color wheel of threads will be more complete."

When I updated my kitchen a few years ago I used an Olive Oil Bottle as inspiration for my colors. Since I like bright bold colors with a sense of earthiness it was perfect. Tuscan Red Cabinets and Yellow/Gold Subway Tile - The countertop is a white background with specks of gold, red, green. White Appliances. If you look at the trianges on the 1st quarter challenge post - this is one of them except I did not use much green. feltingandfiberstudio.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/udqh4h1t_721kwuozfsj.jpg In a post in another blog Zed said he hoped that the next owners of his kitchen liked black - when I get ready to sell this house the new people will probably say 'What was she thinking?' - but I like it - The kitchen in our condo is Bright Red and white another of my bold choices.

It is cool to find the color schemes you have around you match one of the color schemes from the color wheel. And Frances, it's good that you didn't use much green. Color schemes need to have one color that is dominant and then the others are accents.

I have orange walls and blue cupboards in the kitchen at the moment. The living room walls are similar, an orange/yellow roughly painted together effect. The curtains are purple sarongs, the couch is brown with a blue throw, and the floor is concrete painted buff/sand with various coloured rugs. I think my colour scheme is 'as many as possible'
