We're doing our annual posts looking back over the past year, on the Studio site. What have been some of your own favourite felt and fibrey things from the past year?

My favourite creation from 2014 is "the-bowl-that-very-nearly-wasn't". (It was also a rare photographic event for me - I had excellent light and managed to get an accurate image easily and quickly instead of spending days tearing my hair out.) Attachment Deleted

Lyn the bowl is wonderful -
In my first year of felting I made two bowls that were nice enough to give as gifts as well as two small clutches I gave to a friend. My favorite item for myself is a red/gray/white alpaca shawl. Fun things were needle felted Santa Faces and wet felted Christmas Trees. Having a tutorial published on the studio was quite a compliment as well as being asked to make gifts like those in the tutorial. I also enjoyed participating in the Quarterly challenges. Now that I am thinking about it I felted a lot more than I thought I had - wall hangings, book covers, scarves, cat balls and ornaments.
Maybe slippers and hats are in my future.

I feel as though I have come a long way since the beginning of 2014 when I joined the Forum. As my favorite piece, I selected my final wall hanging entered in the 4th Quarter Challenge, Land Art. Birch Bark Collage by catwycliff, on Flickr

The next 2 projects were lots of fun to make... I decided to make myself a bit bigger size Christmas Post Card Like I Made Cathy.. The new technique I tried was creating the Christmas Tree with a thin layer of blended green needle felted wool and melting a layer of Angelina Fiber to both sides.. Then I used my Big Kick Sizzix Die Cutter Christmas Tree to cut out the fiber sheet I made. The die cutter cut it easily... I was so pleased... I then attached it to the background wool with French Knots metallic balls..and strands of beads. .I really liked the snowman bead so I added him too. I then made some more "Angelina Fiber Beads" using white and silver Angelina fibers and melted them together.. I love making these beads and I use them all the time in my projects.. I finished off the card by using White Metallic thread to create the snowflakes. Then I decided to make some Christmas trees... I made a white, red, and green 2 layers Wool fiber sheets and let them dry... I tried using my Sizzix Die Cutter to cut the circle but it would not cut them so I had to cut them the old fashion way.. My 2 DIL requested Christmas Trees for their gifts next year... Big smile. feltingandfiberstudio.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/11vjp0tyixnwpniggukf.jpgfeltingandfiberstudio.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/vghf2woesxcdl51a7f2g.jpg

Hello Lyn, your bowl is gorgeous.. The machine stitching looks very complicated to do...
Cathy your land art wall hanging was very unique and special... Great job in creating it..

Love your ocean princess purse Judy, the details are amazing. I really can't choose a favourite piece from the last year, this will sound cheesy but the last piece I made is always my favourite until I start the next one... Today I am working on a new nuno top so that is flavour of the week right now This is the habouti silk stretched over the resist.... doesn't look like much now but I have a feeling this is going to be special feltingandfiberstudio.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/ps76gpgmeaoj0bd3u2_q.jpg

Why are all the thumbnail photos upside down? That's weird. They all look good right way up though

Your top is looking good Teri - lovely colours. The bark hanging turned out so well Cathy. I really enjoyed experimenting with natural dyes, mordants and modifiers. These are some of the elderberry samples on silk:- flic.kr/p/nq5HKBI also enjoyed making my OTT bag, which I used at a couple of 'dressy' Christmas parties, made a new LBD to go with it. flic.kr/p/qkWjU7
