Seems everyone is busy - Great colors Zed - The American TV Program “The Chew” has craft projects and this week they did one that I am using for inspiration. I felted a Christmas tree and am sewing tiny beads on it. It is 15 inches tall and 12 inches at the widest part. BUT, am not sure I should have started sewing on beads (that is the ones that do not end up on the floor) it makes me nuts and it will take a lot of them and a lot of sewing.. I am thinking of forgetting the beads and buying stick on sequins. (It is only going to be used for display) Anyway I am going to mount it on a canvas Frame that I have painted and then punch holes in the canvas and through the tree and add mini Christmas lights and hang it like a picture. abc.go.com/shows/the-chew/news/craft-corner/120914-light-up-canvas-tree. What do you all think of using stick on sequins – will they stay on? I have never used them. The tree I felted. It looks small but it is 15 inches tall and 12 inches wide. Also it is not perfectly shaped because I did not want it to look like it is manufactured or a cut out. Beads

I glued sequins on felt before and it didn't stick very well. Sewing the beads/sequins on will last a lot longer. I know it takes a lot of time but it works better in the long run. Nice tree by the way.

Nice tree Frances. How about making balls in different colours and stitch them on? It will take less time, although the glitter of beads gives felt a special effect.

What a great idea, Frances, I might have to steal it!

The tree is great! I like how it is not one solid color thru out. The beads are a nice touch! I'm sure it takes a while to do the heading but will be worth it in the end.

Very nice Christmas Tree Frances... Stitching the beads on will most definitely last longer than glue..

Lovely tree Frances As an alternative to gluing/ stitching the beads could you string them onto a piece of thread and lay them on your felt at the prefelt stage, add a few wisps of wool over the thread to make sure they attach well and hold the beads where you want them, then continue felting? I haven't tried this, it's just an idea....

Cool tree Frances. I used the method Teri described for the Christmas card I sent to Janekiwi. I had strung the beads on mohair a while ago and thought they'd make a nice string of lights, it worked well felting into the card. Although I layed it out before felting. Have fun with it, I'm sure whatever method you use it will look good.

I've thought of trying that, Teri, I have loads of beads and acrylic thread.

Yesterday I had some fun creating flat pretty pieces of felt to cut up for an upcoming project that I will get done soon... I made the front and back different with different shades of color... The first side I made with two layers ticker layers and then on the other side a did a very light wispy layer. I want the darker side to come thru and give a mottled look... I also used some coarse glitter and I was surprise to find it did felt in.. I used merino tops. 100 % Mulberry Silk and some mixed fibers in a batt. The red one I want to creat sorta a peppermint look. I was pleased with it.. The white one I used the mixed batt on and then just white Merino tops on the other side. My favorite one is the red one. feltingandfiberstudio.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/ligg2j0lophoegeao82z.jpgfeltingandfiberstudio.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/q5el8dmm5wywsyfl2p8s.jpg

I love your little sheep in the corner Judy, kind of watching over the goodies!
The felt looks good. It's fun to combine things. I look forward to seeing the finished project.
