Nice tree and ornaments Frances.
Judy, it's just experimenting. I like to combine fibers and see the results after felting. It's pretty much doing and learning for me.

That is a very cool tree Francis. My mom used to have a half tree you put up against a wall. I think we are going to have to go with a smaller table tree this year. Or go Victorian and hang it upside down from the ceiling.

I finally got around to making some small samples this week from things I've bought over the year to try: an open weave scarf from Poundland, a bit of wiggle wiry mesh thing (probably for decorating hats) a strip from a scarf I got at another £1 shop and some chiffony stuff from Abakhan. The chiffony piece attached better in some places than others, there's a bit of the bottom edge where it isn't attached, so I know now if I use it again, to put wisps over the edge.

I love the colors and textures Zed. What will you do with it?

There must be lots that can be done with samples as pretty as that. I've used small panels stitched onto bags to brighten them up. Anyone else used a sample as decoration on something?

I have samples and off cuts and cut outs. but haven't really used them yet. partly because the are put away where I don't really see them. I am still not organised in the way I would like. slowly getting there. I an fighting with what to do with resist patterns of all sizes and shaped and what to do with both wet and dry thin plastic.

Well at least you're trying to get organized Ann. I keep my resist in a big covered plastic tub. I roll up the bigger ones so they fit in.
Not sure what to do with the plastic either?? Right now there is some hanging in the kitchen over the chairs and my husband asked if it was part of the Christmas decor (which is nonexistent at the moment).

I hang my resists on skirt hangers in an extra closet. The samples I keep in zip lock bags. I keep them handy just in case...

Thanks, ladies, for the yarn suggestions; however, as I am dangerous around matches, I will simply try to incorporate the yarns into other felt projects and not worry about the fiber types.
Beautiful scarves, Frances…I particularly like the greens.
Cool sample, Zed. I ended up with a bunch of samples after Fiona’s class and have cut some of them up for wrist warmers.

Thanks, everyone. I made this piece big enough to use for a coin purse or maybe wallet. I like Lyn's idea of using them for decoration, the fabric is really nice. I usually put my resists away in a box for safety, then forget where they are and make more

My resists are stored in my son’s former bedroom built-in dresser drawers. I love having the extra space but secretly would love to have him back home!

I did some dyeing the other day, mostly scoured wool for carding texture, but also some silk noil, locks, milk and soy. The silk and milk are just gorgeous. I've got a load more stuff I want to do, so it could take a while! I have BFL - I separated the locks, so I have two piles, I washed some teeswater, wensleydale and gotland locks to do those too, and I want to do some trilobal nylon and more soy.

Hello Zed, me think you are very talented at dying all kinds of fibers...... What do you use to card/blend all your batts? ?
