My local group just spent an afternoon doing shibori on silk. I will be posting about it soon on the blog.

Has anyone ever dyed raw silk in the "Shibori" method with the silk being pleats??? Not raw silk exactly (that is the really heavy weight and textured type of silk isn't it?) but have used both habouti 5 (AKA paj / pongee) silk and silk chiffon for shibori work, they both work beautifully with either procion or acid fast dyes. I expect raw silk will too but the creases might not be as sharp because the fabric is thicker? Would love to see the results if give this a go...

Hello everyone.
Teri I only have dyed silk Habotai this past Summer before I did nuno felting with it.. The dying part turned out pretty good But the nuno felting part turned out no so good. I have some of the silk Habotai left so I thought I would try and do some Shibori dying on it.. I have never tried it before..
Ruth I will look forward to seeing photos of your group Shibori dying.....
Marilyn enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday I the sunny south...
