Zed was talking about the problem of keeping threads neat. I have these butterflies made for thread. They are great because the ate 2 slits so you can hold the beginning and the end. the box it the same on both sides. I think its meant for fishing tackle.

That's the kind I use - the problem is that most of them aren't on those type of cards at the moment. Also the bigger pearle cottons don't fit on one very easily.

Zed inspired me to tidy up my tangled threads - Thanks zed! I just cut up some old birthday cards etc. into a rough butterfly shape and cut in the slits. Cheap, cheerful and all very tidy now! It does mean you can make the cards to a suitable size for your needs.

I almost ordered some from ebay, but I thought I'd make my own. Some of them were lager rectangles for 3 threads, and some single squares. I cut notches out at first, but it was too much messing about, so then I just snipped them at angles like at the top and bottom of Ann's pic, and folded them back.

I like to keep my embroidery threads in the paper tagged loops until I am ready to use them; however, they do end up tangled. I like the idea of Zed’s neat thread drawers where you can see everything at a glance. I have a set of smaller threads on those butterfly cards, which I purchased "used" on-line, but I don’t use them too often because they are the smaller threads. I prefer to use the larger 6-strand perle cottons.

That's a good idea Nada. I actually made some of the clear envelopes to fit the little cards like Ann showed. I just stitched them on my sewing machine to get the pockets.

You guys are so organized. Smile... I have are mine threads kept in many different ways.. All sizes of mesh bags with snaps and zippers. And several big bins I have bought at Jo Ann. Occasionally they get wrapped around a cardboard thingy.... These mesh bags I really like a lot. They comes in very big sizes and this photo of them the bags are about the medium size..
