Hello everyone, It's been a long time since i visited the forum, but I try to keep up with everyone by reading the post that come out. Anyway, I have a good excuse as I have been working for months for a big show which took place last weekend in NYC, at Lincoln Center. It was nerve wracking for me as it was my first big show, but well worth all the effort. anyway, I would love to share some of the photos with you or you can visit my flickr and see some. I will try to upload more this weekend, as I'm finally getting back to my old self. My question today- does anyone recommend or use dry clean on their scarves, or recommend to customers? I have not, but think I will do a test next week just to see the outcome of dry-clean. I personally prefer to hand wash than use chemicals, but if it's an option i feel the customer should know…your thoughts? best regards, Josie Read more: feltandfiberstudio.proboards.com/conversation/504#ixzz3GaRhvHFt

I don't, I say hand wash by just soaking in hot soapy water. The only scarves I have seen dry cleaned shrank. so use a scarf you don't like to test it out. I know they do wool suits and they seem to be fine.

Hi Josie, welcome back. The link in your post doesn't work. I'd love to see all your work! Congratulations on your first show, wow, The Lincokn Center, NYC!!
As far as the Nuno, I'd recommend washing in cool water and laying flat to dry on a towel.
I look forward to seeing your work. Please post your Flickr site when you can.

Congratulations Josie - look forward to seeing your photos from NYC.
I agree with everyone else, hand wash not dry clean.

Your booth looks wonderful Josie and it looks like you have lots of people admiring your work. Did you sell lots? Your scarves are gorgeous. It looks like set up in the rain was painful

Nice to see your work again, Josie. I seem to remember that you were in Fiona’s Surface Design Class along with Marilyn and me. Looks like you had fun at the show in NYC.

Nice to see you back here Josie and your work is fabulous! Looks like you had a good time at the Lincoln Centre despite the weather. I just soak my felted or nuno scarves in cool water with a little gentle detergent suitable for "delicates", then rinse and roll in a towel to get rid of excess water, gently pull back into shape, dry flat and iron if necessary. UK products such as Ecover, Alur or Woolite are some I would recommend.

Yes it was a lot of work, with many months of preparation but in the end it was well worth it. My friends and family were very supportive, and helped me out especially with the tent, and getting my set up done. Overall, we had a good time meeting friends and some new customers. On the day 1 of the event it was raining lightly, and just when we put the cover on the tent the downpour started…by noon the sun was out and we still had plenty of people coming. Good thing we were at Lincoln Center as people who had tickets to the ballet or theater were not bothered by the rain. The scarves were my number one seller, and I sold some of the smaller accessories that i showed.
thanks again, for info related to care. I have been doing the cool/cold water with mild detergent suitable for my wools so you i will stick with that. I had to ask, as someone did ask me if they could dry clean which I did not recommend.

luvswool - Yes, I was in Fiona's workshop earlier this year, and gained so much knowledge which I have been incorporating into my work. I truly love felting as the possibilities are endless in what you can do. Would like to explore more landscape type designs as I see everyone doing here on many of the challenges. thanks

Hello josie,
in the uk we have a dry cleaning product that is in a sheet and you can put felt into the tumble dryer on cold with the sheet and it cleans it. But you need to hang it up afterwards to get rid of the chemical smell.
