This is the perfect project if you have a lot of small felt scraps left over from other projects.

AHA! Finally I get it. I never understood how these bowls etc stayed in shape, why they didn't just flop down flat, I didn't realise that you can dissolve the water soluble stuff but not rinse the glue out. I'm so glad to finally understand! Clear tutorial, thanks

Thanks! Glad the tutorial was helpful. Yes, Jill, the glue makes the whole bowl stable. It's still a bit flexible but it's light enough to stand up.

Very clearly written tutorial, Ruth. I don't have free motion sewing machine and here we cannot get this soluble fabric, but maybe some day ....

Nada - In case you want to have a go, any machine can be used for free motion. On mine, the feed dogs don't drop, instead it came with a plastic cover for them, which is rubbish so I just cover them with sticky tape! You do need an embroidery/ darning foot though. I tried with no foot but it really wasn't any good.

Yes, the darning foot is the key. Do they have quilting supply stores where you are Nada? If so, they might have the water soluble stabilizers there.
