Thanks everyone! I use mostly merino for sure. Short fiber Corriedale is easier for little details. And I found this alpaca/ silk blend that has a great sheen that I also use alot. It only comes in 4 basic colours: black, charcoal, silver Gray and brown. It's great for night scenes and trees. Thanks again!

Lois, merino is hard to top, unless you are doing vessels. I also have enjoyed using some alpaca blends because of the luster. Thanks for sharing your process!

Thanks everyone! Luvswool, I have never felted a vessel but it is certainly on my list of things to try. What type of wool do you recommend for a vessel?

Lois, I believe that vessels gain strength from coarser wool fibers, but I am not the expert on that. You might want to look back at some of the threads about vessels, probably under wet felting. The Forum has some outstanding vessel-makers, but I am not one of them!
