Five of my fiber wallhangings have been accepted into the Fine Art & Fiber Exhibit at the MWFFA, August 1-3, 2014. I can tell you I am pretty excited, as well as surprised. All of the pieces are on my Flickr pages, and the link to the exhibit is: www.fiberandfolk.com/fineart.htm Most of my pieces have been mounted on prepared canvas or stretcher bars.
Do any of you have any advice for a first-time exhibitor? I don't believe there are prizes but art work is for sale.

Congratulations. I would say do not underprice them. It is an original piece of art that will not be reproduced. If you don't value them no one will. My hubby keeps saying this to me.

Well done Cathy - it will be exciting to see your work on display - any sales would be a bonus wouldn't it?
Pricing is tricky, but as has been said, don't underprice. As a starting point for pricing, work out how much your materials cost and how many hours it took you to make the piece at whatever hourly rate you choose...then decide your price.

Thanks all! I probably did underprice them, but it was weeks ago when I applied that I was asked to come up with prices, and it was difficult to do. So, Lyn and Ann, I will take your advice in the future! Still, tough to do.

Way to go!! Well done you. Pricing is difficult, Many don't appreciate how much time goes into handcrafted stuff. Hope you sell lots - at prices you will be happy with.

Thanks, koffipot! Thrilled to be part of an exhibit, and as Lyn said, sales would be a bonus (or do I really want to part with my art?)

Very excited, Halay and Mrs. Plop. I dropped off my art work today and met the curator. Oh my!

Cathy - I tried to fix your photo. You should be able to just copy the BBC code and put it in the reply box. I couldn't do that because it said it was restricted.
