This is what I've been working on over the last few days, though I think 'playing' would be a more appropriate word. I apaologise for such a huge posting! I made a couple of squares of pre-felt, a smoky purple and a black, then decide to laminate them with a piece of pink cotton scrim to give strenght and stability. What next??? I found my very first piece of nuno felt - made a few years ago with a piece of upcycled silk scarf. CIMG6789 by koffipot, on Flickr Then I stipple-quilted the two togather and appliled some "scribble" stitching to the borders. texturing by koffipot, on Flickr Next some some playing to decide on a pleasing shape. I like this and thought it looked rather like a basket. W.I. P. by koffipot, on Flickr More play, trial and error and a handle made from the scraps od laminated felt with some more stiching. Ta dah! front by koffipot, on Flickr And the back back by koffipot, on Flickr I'm quite pleased with the result. As there is no suitable lining fabric in my stash, I have to go shopping. Also need to decide on a closure.

Fabulous Judith! It doesn't look like an evolved bag - it looks like a top class design. Super colours too.
A magnetic snap closure would be easy to fit before you line the bag - a small piece of calico stitched, like a patch, over the 'rough' part of the closure on the inside of the bag protects the lining. The closure can be hidden on the front of the bag with a button or small felt embellishment.

Thanks for the comment. I have magnetic closures and made a piece to use as a cover, but I feel the bag doesn't need any further additions. A sew on magnetic closure might be preferable - no prongs and plate to cover up. :

It looks very planed and executed to me. I love the colours and the stitching. I think I would go with a sew on magnetic clasp as well.

What a gorgeous bag! It's very cool making a new thing out of discarded pieces.

Wonderful Judith! Just goes to show that you can use those pieces that are laying around the studio and make something gorgeous

Thanks. As I was saying this morning, I needed to find the right thing for the lining - so I dyed this this afternoon. I think it will go if I put one of the more purple corner under the flap. batik by koffipot, on Flickr
