Great finish on the bracelet Ann!
Cathy - I know very little about fishing but have sold lots of mobiles in the store that are handcrafted. The ones that work best use those little spinner thingees.

I don't think I will need the little spinner thing-ees, because when I hold up the filament with the circle, it already spins. So now I have the filament knots tied and glued and I am almost ready to hang the mobile. If it doesn't work, I will go to the big box store and get the spinners. I also do not have jump rings.
Ruth: Would love to see some of your shop's handcrafted mobiles…there's a real art to creating these things. Great gift items…do you sell many?

So here's my daily dose, sort of an abstract seascape wet-felted with merino, domestic 56's and alpaca with Texas mohair (thanks, Marilyn!) and mulberry silk roving. When I felted with, I was thinking about the Irish Sea, crossing over by ferry from Scotland to Northern Ireland, and then again from London to Dublin by airplane. This goes back a few years, so my memory is a bit faulty. To you Brits, it may not look anything like the Irish Sea, but here's my question: What should I add to this piece? It looks very pastel to me, like it could use some brightness, a spark. Any ideas? feltingandfiberstudio.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/n6drvvqi9qr2mjzmv34w.jpg

My only real experience of the Irish Sea is going to the Isle of Man in a Gale Force 10 storm, so you don't want to know what my addition to it was Or the shipping channel into Liverpool. It looks good as it is.

It's not fun to be traveling on the sea in a storm…I try to stay with very large boats. Thanks, Zed. Sometimes it's best to leave things as is.

Yeah, if it doesn't feel finished, put it away for a while and it might just be the perfect piece for something before long.

Finally after two weeks away I got my hands wet other than washing dishes! I made some more business card felt today. Ahh, it's good to be home.

I managed to make a few batts over the last couple of weeks, but we've had a miserable heatwave.

We sometimes overlook the most obvious choices for our fiber work, so I grabbed a recent photo of my cats and needle-felted it yesterday onto a plain, off-white wet-felted base. Question is, do you think I should leave the background as is, or add some colored fibers? I am tempted to leave it as is (with just a few touch-ups) because of the neutral colors. It's gorgeous Cathy! You may want to just add a little something as a background, but it's fine as is. Cute cats! What are their names?

I like it as is. I wouldn't want to distract from the main image.

I like it as it is - there's not much background and I worry that the cats would lose their impact if you put anything behind them.
They are beautiful.

:)Ahhh, so glad to hear you all agree about leaving the background as is…thanks Lyn, Marilyn and Ann! I adopted these two brothers 7 years ago when they were just 6 weeks. We (my sons and I) named them Travis (beige & white) and Sidecar. So appropriate because Travis is larger and more dominant, whereas Sidecar sort of follows and hangs out with Travis, usually deferring to him on food, water and other important matters!
