Thanks everyone! I was going to make a pillow with it but my son said "no, it's a Monet, you have to hang it." Ha!

That great Jill! It's exactly the same one I was going to do. I love water lilies. Great job! Thanks for sharing.

Love your Monet lily pads piece…I had also thought of doing something with the lily pads--but now both Marilyn and I will need to think of something else! ;-))

Marilyn, Cathy, don't let me put you off! It would be great to see more from the same inspiration source. I think I was too Mediterranean with my colour scheme, rather than French. & realised, when stitching, that I was losing the impressionist feel, so stopped sewing, hopefully not too late.

The lily pad piece is beautiful! The hanging fronds are very graceful and delicate and I think your colours worked really well.

I'm sure even if Cathy and I did the same one, we'd all have different outcomes. That's half the fun!

You are right, Marilyn! But I am leaning towards the Iris paintings now…
Jwugg, you cannot be too “Mediterranean” since France does border on the Sea (even though that’s not where Giverney is located..) heh heh

Did I fail to mention irises are my favorite flowers? Haha! I'm hoping to make a couple, but I'd better get going!

The willow branches are perfect, the water has gentle movement and overall it's a great piece! (I think Claude would approve of your colours and would consider them French.)

Was thinking my Monet challenge would be water lilies but I saw chrysanthemums on display at the grocery and remembered Monet’s Chrysanthemums Paintings so that ended up being the inspiration for this book cover. It’s obviously a very loose interpretation. The base is a ‘woods green’ wool fiber bat (Opulent Fibers). After placing the flowers I added a little blue between them and then to give the piece a little sheen green bamboo top. Before felting - NOTE - there is a blue masking tape border on the bubble wrap to use as a guide for size and shape Front of cover Back of cover The inside corners of the cover are needle felted together. The pages of the book should hold the felt folded to the inside in place. The book is 9 1/4 inches tall, 8 inches wide and 2 inches thick with pages inserted. I absolutely love the ‘richness’ of this piece and wish you all could see and touch it in person. It takes me to a happy place.
