These are beginning to create interest and are selling, so I've just made a few more. Not the best photography in the world!! They have much more lustre! Now on to some more colours. CIMG0395 by koffipot, on Flickr

They are lovely Judith. Are they are organza or silk? What did you use for the stamens and leaves? How did you get such a nice edge on the flowers?

Thank you. They're mostly organza with some inserts of silk. The stamens are just made from several different shades of art. silk thread, looped and stitched, some also have a few beads in the middle. The leaves are of green silk woven with an extremely fine copper wire. The feathers are some which I dyed. They looked a bit tatty, but dried perfectly. The synthetic organza is cut in various sized circles, then carefully hold the edges over a flame, which seals the cut edge and shrivels it a bit so it becomes a cup shape. Too close to the flame and it can become a melted mess!! I use a drop of hot glue to make sure the pin stays in place.

They are very pretty indeed - I wonder if you could get into the wedding market i.e. buttonholes. Modern brides prefer flowers like yours instead of the trad carnation and fern.

Thanks Judith. I never have luck with the flame. I'm heavy handed I guess. You must have a great deal if patience. ;-)

Fantastic! I admire your patience, I think I would have problems holding them in shape let alone deal with a flame.

Thanks for your comments.
Lyn, the wedding market is what I'm aiming at and I have a couple of orders for specific colours. We'll see how it goes, but I'm having fun which is important. I'm thinking of trying a small bouquet.

The flowers are very delicate-looking, quite pretty. Do you think their popularity have anything to do with the interest in ecology?

Very nice flowers. I would think the graduation market might be good too. Better than real flowers they keep much better.

Wow, Judith, they are gorgeous! I think a bouquet and even table arrangements would work brilliantly

Thanks zed, hadn't considered a table decoration. It's on the list now and I just need to find the time to do them.

Did you get an email that Flickr aren't going to be associated with google or facebook now and those on flickr need a yahoo account? Bit of a pain that isn't it?!
