Part 2... Then I went off the idea. Instead I decided to stitch Cornish palms (inspired by the black painted palm trees in 'Dos Palmeros') onto a felty version of 'Dry Sun' But then I changed my mind about the Cornish palms, so I chose something else that you can see a lot of in Cornwall - a stone celtic cross. I used black thread instead of black paint on a background of colours blended on my drum carder. The blue lines are wool yarn. Yer 'tis (15" x 13") I cut it to a rectangle after it was dry and stuck it to a piece of mountboard.

Part 3.. not the blog's fault this time - I had too many images to upload all at once. I really liked Stewart's 'Time Warp' So here's my felty version (18" square). I used my drum carder to blend the blues, the white lines are mohair yarn, the 'bits' are sari silk, nepps and unidentifiable weeny scraps of 'stuff'. I cut a hole in the centre about halfway through the process. I cut the finished felt into a square but decided it was boring so I trimmed the corners off.

Really great job on the challenge Lyn - all of your ideas are wonderful. I really like the stitched Celtic cross. Sorry the forum was acting up. When I tried to view your photos it sent me back to the beginning of the thread and showed that it only had two pages instead of three. Weird.

There is something strange going on Ruth. I just tried clicking on the blue one above and other parts of the thread flashed up.

Both are great Lyn. The stitching over the bright background gives the Cross an ethereal feel. I can see why you liked time warp, its full of energy.

Lyn these are fabulous, I particularly love the celtic cross one, it feels other worldly, the effect of the outline cross against those colours and the white oval shape is lovely, your colours are beautifully subtle :-) you are inspiring me :-)

Thank you for your kind comments (I hope the ghosties have gone home now Ruth).
Marilyn - the time warp is my fave of the two.
Ann - great challenge - so much colour and movement in Stewart's work.
Carole - that's what I like about this forum - we all inspire each other!

These are lovely Lyn. I really like the Celtic cross on 'Dry Sun' - combining the Stephenson with your own design.

Both designs are well-made and inspirational! Time Warp has me thinking about explosions, the 4th of July fireworks…must have another look at this artist.

Both are very nice Lyn, I somehow prefer the Time Warp. Ive done my homework for this quarter challenge too. It is drying now on the rope. As I said I wanted to make something usable, this time I decided on a handbag. I'll post the photo in the following days.
