Thanks Zed. It's disappointing when people don't return the favour Do you think they used the fibres you gave them?

Marilyn - another question for you tutorial if you don't mind, what is branding and how does it relate to marketing?

Teri that's an excellent question. I'll be taking it slow and general at first so as not to overwhelm people. But branding is definitely important to the marketing plan and I will probably devote a whole blog to that subject. Thanks for asking.

monster hat is good. yes putting yourself forward is something we are always taught not to do. not showing off, very rude. Hard to break the conditioning.

Great blog about marketing Marilyn, it's helped me to clear my mind and section off areas to develop, I find it so hard making things then putting a price on them, I always under price my stuff as sometimes it feels like a hobby, but I will take on board your points and do some work on them too.
Finding out what customers want is a mystery to me, thanks for your insights Teri. I did run a felted bead workshop and had some of my finished items with me, and was shocked when although people were making their own they wanted to buy the ones I had made. I like the idea of having working with a guinea pig customer :-)

Thanks Carole. Pricing is difficult especially for people starting out. I think most artists tend to undervalue their work. But I guarantee you people who aren't artists put a higher value on things they can't do themselves. I think it's great you had students who wanted to buy your work even though they had just made their own. In my mind, you set a standard and they wanted that to use to work up to. What is the expression? Imitation is the highest form of flattery. :-)
We will talk more about customers.

Carole - there is more information about pricing on the blog if you look back at the "Marketplace Monday" posts. Just click on that under categories and they will come up.
