Having had a go at making baby booties I decided to have a go at making pods, and they have become quite addictive The first five are merino, silk, embroidery and beading, I used a round template some small and some larger just to experiment

then I woke up this morning thinking I wonder is it possible to add a machine embroidery to a felted pod and here is my first experiment

Those are wonderful and I love to add machine embroidery to felt. All of your embellishments really make the pods unique.

Ruth has done several pieces. I think Lyn has too. learning free motion embroidery is on my list of things to do. I don't have any other links but I have seen several felt peices that have been embroidered on both by machine and by hand

It's on my list as well Ann.
Carole, thanks for posting the booties. They are adorable! Are they hand embroidered? I also like your new pic.

thank you for all those links, I can see today is taken care of now the embroidery on the booties is simple hand embroidery, as is the embroidery on most of the pots, but the swallow pot is a pre digitised embroidery, I love free hand machine embroidery and have even had a go at that technique when you free hand machine embroider and have part padded to raise images or shapes - can't remember what it's called, is it trapunto - here is a wee pic of a sampler I was working on:

I do believe what you are describing is trapunto. The leaf sampler is great. How did you get the leaf shapes on there? It looks to me like you laid the leaf down and then sprayed dye around the leaf and the leaf worked as a resist. Or was it something else?
