Hi everyone. What a wonderful forum! I am a flameworker who felt (no pun intended) I needed another medium to spur and/or revive my interest and creativity in my art. I discovered nuno felting and absolutely love it. However, I have only been researching and learning so far, other than make one basic scarf.
I can't wait to see where this exciting journey takes me. I am hoping to be able to combine the two mediums. All of your beautiful work and sharing is greatly appreciated.
Debbi

Hi Debbi, and welcome to the forum I don't think you'll be able to combine the two mediums, wool is fire retardant (pun intended! SORRY!) We'd love to see photos of your work.

Debbi, hi and welcome to the Forum! You will find this a wonderful place to learn and share, and it IS definitely a journey worth taking. Now can you tell us a bit about what a "flameworker" does? Never heard that expression before.

Thank you for the welcome. Guess i should have clarified myself. By flamework, I mean I make glass beads, have been making them for 10 years, along with jewelry with my beads, which I sell mostly at art shows. Lately I have been kind of "stuck", even though there are so many colors and kinds of glass to use and new techniques to learn. I thought it would help me to have another medium to get involved in and go back totally renewed.
I had made some jewelry scarves with really cheap scsrves and my besds that sold very well, and decided maybe I could make the scarves too. So that is what I am hoping to start with and move on from there. But now I am discovering there is so much that can be created I am so excited to get going. I have a bead show in a couple of weeks, though, I have to get through first.

Welcome Debbi! You've come to the right place to learn and share. You'll probably find like I did that there are so many great ideas and methods shared here you'll never want for new ideas.
I'd love to see your work. I'm envisioning metal work?

Welcome Debbi, most of us on here started as you did, with a few small pieces of felt and now are totally addicted. It is such a versatile medium I'm sure you will find lots of great ways to use it. I'm with Zed and Luvswool - what is a flameworker? Are you able to post photos of your work or do you have a website/blog we can look at?

Welcome Debbi - flameworked beads and felt is a great combination. It makes a good contrast between the shiny glass bead and the matt wool. I look forward to seeing your scarves - they sound very interesting. We do love photos here and there is a section under frequently asked questions about how to add photos. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Here is a photo of my first and only scarf - did it without fabric, kind of the cobweb technique, but I didn't like all the holes in my test. I just did it straight from the skein because I just loved how the colors blended. Also attached are a few of my bead/jewelry pieces. Yes, I have a website, and am on FB. I will put it in my profile when I have time and figure that out.

Welcome Debbie. What wonderful beads! I'm sure you can combine the two media. I can already see your beads incorporated in felt. It is possible, I remember seeing a picture somewhere and if I find it I'll send it to you.

Welcome I think wool and glass go well together. Felt is a great medium to bead and stitch on.

Gorgeous beads! Did you do the wire work in the second bracelet? Your first felting attempt looks great too.

Thanks. Yes, I did the wirework on the necklace. Looking forward to getting to know you all better on the forum. Where is the best place on the forum to find tutorials?

Most of our tutorials are on our blog/website. There is a grey button at the bottom of every forum page that says "The Felting and Fiber Studio". Click on that and it will take you to the blog. There is tons of information there if you look through all the pages. The menu bar is at the top. There is one page dedicated to tutorials but lots of other info on the other pages. You can subscribe to the blog to get updates in your e-mail each time we post something new or you can like us on Facebook and you'll get notified that way. Here on the forum, there is lots of information but you'll need to read through posts and follow along in conversations to get the most from the forum.
