Here's my attempt at a 'Pollock' - mark i and mark ii of the same piece (details on the forum blog). I enjoyed doing this challenge and it took me out of my comfort zone. (The picture is a bit small, but it can be made larger by clicking on it.)

Excellent Lyn. I like them both. The one on the right has a three dimensional quality hard to describe. Almost ethereal. I look forward to reading the blog.

I'm glad you put the photos side by side. It is easier to compare them. I think I like the cut up version best. Great job.

I really like the abstract movement the cutting up has created. Uncut, it's almost like a magic-eye picture, the lighter centre draws your eye and you almost 'lose' the surface design.

I love the cut up version, what a great idea, it jumps off the page and looks so much more complex

Talking about cutters, blades, etc. what do you use for cutting through your felt? I mean when you are using resits and would like to make a nicely shaped opening?

I usually use a very sharp pair of small scissors (like the kind most people use for embroidery).

I also use a sharp pair of embroidery scissors (the stork style)!

I've got a pizza cutter, should I get the sandpaper out?
I use a scalpel to start the cut and scissors to finish

...or you could trade in your pizza cutter for a rotary cutter and use the rotary cutter on both your pizzas and your felt?
Good idea about the scalpel to start the cut - my scissors don't make a good first cut.

I use very pointy sharp scissors. I usually start smaller than I want if I am cutting a hole. its hart to get a nice cut with the first cut. If you can pinch it up to make the first cut it is neater.
