Hi, There has been this new Russian felt fashion magazine out on the market for a couple of months now. Anybody here is subscribing? Here is the link: feltfashion.ru/It is too bad that they do not have an English insert like the German magazine. I would still like to subscribe, but everything is written in Russian on the web site....so I do not understand. What do you guys think? Thanks

I translated the page in google and it looks like it is definitely all in Russian. It looks like it is directed mainly at Russian felt makers. Hopefully, they will come out with a digital version that can be translated. It didn't look like they have a digital version now. But it looks like a cool magazine.

It does look like an interesting magazine. Maybe if it grows it will start to make an English electronic or print version, like some of the other fiber magazines.

I've seen a lot of stuff from Russian felters on YouTube and got a feeling that they are s rather closed community who doesn't want to share. Lots of wonderful stuff displayed but with no how-to instructions. I've learned most from the the English speaking contributors.

Thank you all, the russian seem to be very very good with wool. From what I saw on the web form the past years, it seem like they are mastering wool felting. I hope they will come up with something in english too. For now we can still admire there art.

They have been making felt boots for longer than there was a Russia I think. I would love to have a pair.

One of my fiber art friends was dyeing cotton batting. She had a piece of leftover wool batting (wadding in England) and it looked like it would make a great scarf, just as it was. But I imagine it would not hold together without some felting. She dyed it a nice brown.

I just went over to look at this again and the translated page seems to be mostly an ad for hoping people write articles. Does anyone know if the magazine has gone or still in production? I was looking to see if they did a translation yet.

The people involved are very experienced feltmakers and already have a lot of videos on you tube and their website. They are very generous with their information. I have done some of their tutorials and yes they re in Russian but still easy to follow. They concentrate, or seem to, on wearables. There is already a Russian felting magazine which has been around for a while called Felt Fashion. BTW The German felting magazine no longer has an English supplement - you have to look on line for the translation sheets. If you want a good felting magazine, I'd suggest the Australian one. Only twice a year but always amazing content and some good tutorials.

Yes, 'Felt' is a good magazine and a fair price.

Below is what I get when I translate the page. My guild is looking at changing the felt magazine we subscribe to. we have the German one now. it is very expensive for us to get print versions of anything. We are thinking of joining the IFA to get their magazine, but we can only afford the digital version. Felt is only twice a year but is also a possibility for us. we are trying to get the biggest bang for the buck. the German one with the English translation was good but as you say it has gone digital.
In the meantime, there is no need to know about it. ”
Now you decide what to write about in our favorite magazine!

From 2021, the journal becomes completely free, and authors of articles can choose the services of an editor, proofreader, or simply posting ready-made material that are suitable for their publication.

I'm not sure if a group can join the IFA, I think it is individuals only so might be more expensive than just getting Felt magazine. With the IFA you'd each get a magazine and also insurance for your membership fee, and now there is a lot of on line content for members - videos etc.

We would only get one copy for the library. We do it with some other things too. Unless you are in the UK the magazine is all you get.

Oh yes, I'd forgotten about that. it always struck me as a bit unfair. It's a pity that they don't have a two tier membership fee for those who can't take advantage of the insurance (or are insured elsewhere as I was before I joined)

I had heard that someone in the USA is trying to get something going there so there is something but that was months ago and I don't know if it got off the ground. Covid wouldn't have helped. I hope it works. it would be nice to have something in north America. we do have a Canadian group based in British Columbia but that's almost as far from me as the UK.
