Hello, Thank you for letting me a part of this wonderful forum! I look forward to learning from and sharing with you. I only started felting a few months ago, but am totally hooked! So far I've dabbled with wet and needle felting, but would like to try nuno and 3d figures or characters. I'm mostly self taught, except for information I've found on the internet. Here's a few things I've made (I hope I've added the photos correctly):

The last two pictures are of my felting needles holder - it is "color coded" for the different sized needles

In the first picture, only the flower is felted, the face is machine embroidered; the leaves are from an artificial "silk" plant and were applied using a sewing machine

Your work is very good. I really like the flower patterns on your felt. Looks to me like you are doing really well. Machine embroidery is something I want to lean

I love the humming bird and the felt on the mitts is a wonderful fusion of colours! And what a good idea to have the colour coded cushion in which to keep the felting needles.
I look forward to seeing more of your posts.

Thank for the warm welcomes and compliments!! I'm trying to wet felt "pictures" without using needle felting or prefelts, but am not totally pleased with the results. In the above pictures, I needle felted the hearts and hummingbird, everything else was laid out in roving and wet felted. I'm finding that alot of the detail gets lost and the final results look fuzzy. Or if I use too much wool for the "picture" details sometimes the parts don't felt all the way to the background and the ends are lifted. (Flower centers in picture 3, some flowers in picture 5) Any suggestions or tips?

(Flower centers in picture 3, some flowers in picture 5) Any suggestions or tips? Here's one thing to try: When you have your background, wet it down flat then lay details on top using wet wool. Example: Draw the wool through a bowl of soapy water It will look 'solid' when it comes out of the water. Lay it how you want onto your background. You can 'draw' details by using very thin pieces. These 'solid, wet pieces' felt in easily but don't go fuzzy. In the windsurfer (first photo) the coloured pieces are thoroughly felted in but still look as fresh as when first put down. Tip: After you've finished laying down your picture, start the felting process very gently so as not to disturb the layout.

Thank you so much Lyn! I'll try that. Does it still stay as sharp after it is fulled?

Thank you so much Lyn! I'll try that. Does it still stay as sharp after it is fulled? Yes it does - the piece of felt shown above (photo of the 'windsurfer') is fulled completely.

I am afraid I don't know the technique. I know there is a way. Rod and Karoliina in Finland says north Americans felt differently and it makes out pictures sink in. They do it differently and his pictures are clear and crisp. One day I hope I can take a class with them. www.rod.4felts.com/index.htmliinalommi.com/gallery/I will have to give your suggestion a try Lyn. you must have typed it at the same time I was doing mine.

Pants - I've edited the above post - I forgot to say that when you've made the background, wet it down flat then lay details on top using wet wool.
