I finally got some alum and was able to dye these in my lovely elderberry dyebath. The circle design reminds me of dandelion 'clocks'. I'm especially pleased with the square on point on though. It's been a fun experience. www.flickr.com/photos/koffipot/10604758005/

The dye being from this autumn's elderberries, I suppose this could have gone into the Autumn Challenge - 2 birds with one stone!!

Wow - those are great and I love the color of the elderberry dye. I'm not familiar with all the shibori terms. Are those stitched to get the design?

Cool - thanks for the photos of the stitching. This is on my "list" of things I want to try. Too bad the list is so long.

I don't know much about it really Ann, this is my first foray into natural dyes, however I'm informed that it's not very light fast. As for washing, time will tell!
Looking forward to doing more.

Judy, thank you, yes it's on a fine habotai silk. I'm enjoying my first attempts at eco-dyeing as well as the shibori effects. We have an overgrowth of Ivy in the garden, so no prizes for guessing what will be next in the pot!

Perfect for the autumn challenge love how they have turned out, was great to see the stitching photos too. It is on my long list of things I like to try too. though it is spring here so the elderberry's are flowering (elderberry fizz anyone?) and I will have to wait for the berrys. Can you use Ivy too, not heard of that, but have a heap that has got away on the fence, I guess that you use the berry like bits of the ivy?
