Judith I have never had problems bringing in washed wool to Canada. Washed wool is aloud in the states as well. You do run into postal or customs people that do not know what it is or the difference is. I would just call it processed wool or just wool(they will think its yarn)or not mention that part of the package.

Yes I can understand why raw wool straight off the farm might not be allowed, the Gotland and Romney that I have has got bits of other matter, not alot, but you would not want to be spreading weed seeds or other pests. Yikes Zed that sounded horrible!! I am going to have to google Zwartble as I have never heard of it!! wow what a cool looking sheep Washed wool though, particularly if it is commercially processed wool, and if it is dyed as well, then that should be fine, as Judith says no different from a woollen garment. I had just put wool on the customs declaration, and it was not until the post office lady asked for more detail that I suddenly thought uh oh raw fleece might not of been a good idea, I had just got rather caught up in my enthusiasm to share the felting fun will rearrange the parcel and post it off on Monday

The beetles weren't as bad as the thorns! I did buy raw fleece which was very greasey and probably had the tightest crimp/curl I've ever seen so I'm not surprised there were lots of things hiding in it. It still smells good though years later The moth larvae was nasty. I was doing a pack for a fibre exchange at the time, so I emptied it onto a large sheet on my bed to take some out to share. It still gives me the shivers!

Crealou - I mailed your gift this morning. It usually takes at least a week to go across the country and then I'm not sure how it will do crossing the border. Hopefully, you should get it by end of next week at the latest. Hope you like it
