Well, they look really great, Marilyn Oddly enough, I blended some merino and bamboo the other day and had the same problem. I should have known from some recent samples made blending black viscose how much the shine/fibre's properties is lost through blending. I'm going to redo mine with the bamboo on top.

maybe it depend on the size of the sparkle fibers. Angelina comes in different sizes.

I didn't realize tencel was Angelina. The Angelina I've seen is much more sparkly and very fine. The tencel,I have has a hand similar to superfine merino.

Not sure if they are the same. Angelina is a brand. I really just meant I know it comes in different sizes so maybe other fibers do too.

Sorry if I'm stirring up a dormant thread, but I was wondering how Marilyn and Zed have been getting along with their drum carders? I might be in the market for one and was wondering if you're still happy with yours Of course, whoever owns a drum carder will be more than welcome to offer their two cents! Thank you in advance.

I have a Louet junior I bought second hand. It works ok, but I spend too much time pulling stuff off the smaller wheel -- I forget what it's called. If I were to buy another one, I'd get one with the brush. I think that eliminates the problem. I think most of the ashfords have a brush. I'm not an expert, but that's my experience. I hope that helps. I'm sure the more experienced members will have something to say.

My small one is not made anymore I don't think. I was told to let the fiber build up on the small in feed drum. After there is some on there it will stop building up and fewer fiber sill stick and not transfer to the big drum. I was sceptical but it does seem to work. I do clean it I am going from dark colours to white. With my big electric carder I almost never clean the drums. I haven't cleaned it in 2 years.

Mine is from the Classic Carder Company. I'm really happy with it, I only get fibre caught on the small drum if I pile too much fibre on at once, but it usually comes off on the next turn around. I got one with a brush for the back and it really makes a difference. Though it does look like it'd be very easy to make one to fit.
