Ann's got me interested in a Drum Carder again. I had a quick look for some, but they seem to be nearer £400 now, I'm sure they were about £250 last time I looked. Does anyone have an opinion on which they think are better quality/value for money. I'd rather pay for one which is reliable if it costs more. (I did see Ashford ones at Wingham cheaper than Ashfords elsewhere, but I don't buy from there, just saying )

I hadn't thought of ebay There's a 'classic carder' there, I think I remember looking at their site. I'll have a look there, thanks

I'm fascinated to know what on earth Kate Bush has to do with drum carders - on ebay!

I've been keeping an eye out for one here, but they are very expensive. Have you tried the local thrift shops? I just saw a spinning wheel at one last week. I think classifieds like ann suggested may be a better bet.

I have never seen a spinning wheel or carder at any thrift shop. I do pick up some painting supplies from time to time.

Ha, I hadn't seen the Kate Bush cd's, I changed the order of the list. I ordered one from the Classic carder site, it had a finishing brush too for £270 including postage. They even do left handed ones, not that I need one I wish I did see drum carders or spinning wheels in the charity shops! I did get some nice hand made soap a few months ago, but I am so bad at making felted soap!

Sorry I didn't get the make of mine for you. The price seems good. Which carder did you get? i never see anything like that in charity places either.

I got the Classic carder in Ash, it was cheapest. I got it with the finishing brush classiccarder.co.uk/drum-carders/standard-drum-carders/I'll let you know, Judith I have bags of wool and fibre scraps, and I did a wool inventory yesterday, I have some small ends that are about 5 years old and a bit compressed and need carding so I'm sure I'll get my money's worth before long! I'll let you know, Marilyn
