I just got word from the Sugar Loaf Wool mill that my wool is ready. There are 26 batts to go pick up. We're going down on Sunday to pick them up. Then it will be yurt making time!! I'll take photos on Sunday so you can see how many batts of wool we can cram into the car

WOW, that machine is very cool. Did not really know what a batt was and didn't know they could be that big.

Batts come in all sizes but I needed big ones so this wool mill is perfect. 3 hours drive from my house and able to make really big batts. They usually sell them as wool comforters (with a cover).

PICT0817 by fiberruth, on Flickr PICT0819 by fiberruth, on Flickr PICT0821 by fiberruth, on Flickr PICT0824 by fiberruth, on Flickr I picked up the wool today. Twenty six batts in great big bags. Each batt weighs about 5# so it is about 130 pounds of wool. It barely fit into the car. It was raining when we picked it up so I took photos after we got home. The last photo is of the wool piled up by the treadmill in the garage. Now we've got to get the wood for the frame. I can't start felting until we have the walls made so I know the size I need to make the wool walls. More soon
