It can't be easy having Christmas in Summer, two big holidays seasons at once, it's hard enough with just one and not being ill.

Looks like I am going to have to try some beads! I have not melted tyvek yet but love Ruth's lichen on her class stitched piece! Now the beads, and hearing all that you people are doing with it. Ruth....maybe we can get together after the holidays? I will bring the tyvek if you bring the heat gun.

Hey Girls, i'm back on deck again and feeling a lot better, still not 100% but getting there, what a great time to get sick, not Tess i bought a whole sheet of Tyvek from ebay a while ago, i can send you piece to play with if you like, its softer that the first lot of sheets i bought from oz and i havent actually tried any yet but it should be fine, this is plain white so you can paint it any color you like, cut and heat, lot of fun , if you want to make some beads you cut it into very thin strips, wrap around a skewer or something thin, without 3 hands you have to pin in place and then hit it with the heat gun, if you heat for a fraction of a second to long it does burn quick

Hey Karen, sorry to hear you have been poorly, we have had all sorts going on here as well, will be glad to see the back of 2012, and I also said that in 2011. I have some postage backs which I'm pretty sure are made from Tyvek so once all the chaos settles down here, (major power outage 2 weeks ago and lots of electrical items got fried, oh and I'm doing Xmas here this year, cue the hysterial laughing) I will have a go at it, may need to invest in a craft heat gun we have a paint stripper heat gun and I'm sure I'll probably set the house and myself on fire using that.

Thanks Tess , i'm sorry you had all the electrical frying, its not nice is it when you wake up to snap crackle and popping, especially smoking tv's lol hope your insurance is working hard for you and you'll get everything you need for your chrissy day. Good idea not to use the paint stripper heat gun i think

I was going to say to avoid the heat stripper gun to start with. It gets really hot and the tyvek will be fried in no time.

yes I wouldn't even go near it. Will have a look what the craft stores have on line when I have a spare moment, the smaller the better for my hands. Still so chaotic here, I lost another golden hour yesterday when the replacement stove arrived, at least he took my old one away so we don't have to dispose of that. They are replacing the new bread maker also and we are waiting on word for the de-humidifier as well. The insurance guy acts like its his money he's having to part with. LOL

Insurance people are really stingy, aren't they? They act like you never paid them a cent and they think you're trying to scam them or something. Glad you're getting all your replacements.

I love these beads, they have so much going on in them. I have had a go at felt and thread beads then made them up into necklaces, never used tyvex for beads only as others have said painted it and heated it then stitched it on other work. I so agree making beads is so fiddly and sticky but great fun and everyone is different.
