Tried to post on here earlier, but got the message that the site was down. I had to spend the morning organizing all my projects and then did some sketching on the new pet portrait project. I am also working on Ancestry.com and made some amazing discoveries about my ancesters. But it is very time consuming.

Judy - I noticed that proboards was down for a bit yesterday. It wasn't just our forum but all their forums weren't working for a few. I still haven't finished my machine stitched applique but did a few minutes this morning before work. I am also back to a little hand stitching too.

There have been problems with many sites over the last few days. I can neither remember nor understand what it was all about except it was something to do with someone trying to block spam filters.

Spent the first half of the day working on some sketching for the "Spunky pet portrait" and then moved to doing some more beading. I did about 2 inches of fringe and it took me forever. Then I spent hours on Ancestry.com and traced my husband's family to the 1600's in Yorkshire England. Wow, I feel like I have lived a hundred lifetimes in one day.

I wore my gilet (which started out as a jacket) last night and had many compliments, it's a nice bright day so might get a photo.

Yes Ann, vest, waistcoat, gilet, all the same thing. We tend to use the French "gilet" these days in England. A bit of Franglais, perhaps more suited to Canada!! I love the French language, so am happy to go along with it.

I posted my Esther project on my blog today. It has also warmed up, finally, and I was able to work in the sunroom painting studio. I have not worked out there is so long because of the cold. Tonight I will work on the hand beading fringe project again while I watch t.v. It is very slow going. I would like to see a picture of the vest now that it is finished and also the birdhouses. If you want to see my Esther project, you can go to my blog here: judysfiberart.blogspot.com/

Hey Judy - beaded fringe does take a while, doesn't it? I know, I did a lot for my bead book. Your Esther project is gorgeous!! It turned out perfectly.
Can't wait to see the gilet Judith.

I hope to have a 'free' day tomorrow so I can settle into some felting.
Have you heard the saying 'Man plans and God laughs' - I often think of it when I plan a whole day's felting!

Thanks everyone. I don't think I will repeat anything that takes as much work as the Esther project for a long, long time. Yes, beading can be very tedious and time consuming. But I just do a few strands at a time, as my eyes get very tired at the end of the day. I can't seem to get pictures on this forum either.
I spent a lot of time today on the Spunky Pet Portrait. I did 4 preliminary drawings and refined each one down to a simplified cartoon. I sectioned the cartoon off into sections of light, medium and dark values; and then warm and cool shades. I numbered each sectional part with a number designation, a value designation and then a shade of warm or cool. Now, the hard part. cutting up the pattern and using the tiny parts for templates. I put Wonder Under on the backs of the fabric parts and cut out the shapes. It is assembled onto a piece of parchment paper with the hot iron. When it is finally put together, I transfer it to black peltex and do a fine zig-zag around the raw edges. I mount this onto a background. So, you see, I still have a way to go. Hope it will turn out as good as Snickers. I am still working on the family tree.
