Icelandic sheep are double coated. The thel is the warm, soft undercoat and the tog is the hairy, water repellent top coat.

Bingo! I just joined because I received an Icelandic fleece, am not a spinner, and wondered if I could felt with it. This was the place to ask! Thanks to all. Does anybody have experience with Nuno felting this on cotton cheesecloth?

The Icelandic fleece should felt into cotton cheesecloth. Most breeds will. The best idea is to make a small sample first so that you see how it will felt and whether you like the end result.
