A small lampshade, silk voile, merino wool, un-gummed carrier rods, de-gummed throwster's waste and honesty pods from the garden - sometimes called 'silver pennies/silver dollars'. Dyed in brown and red onions skins, Hand spun (rustic) merino trim.[img src="[/img] "]

Okay, just so I don't have to go searching once again - what is Honesty?
Love the lampshade, btw. Absolutely gorgeous.

The lampshade is terrific - you need to click to enlarge the photo to see its full glory.
I haven't yet tried to incorporate vegetation into my felt - so many things to try and so little time!

oh...pretty.
So - with lampshade you make a flat piece and stitch it? then do you stich it onto the frame or on top of existing lampshade or straight onto the frame? Do you you roll it? How come the beautiful leaves (is that the honesty) doesn't break up.
soooo many questions....can you tell I like it!?!

Judith - I hope you don't mind but I modified your post so the link would work. To put in a link, just paste it in and then highlight. One of the little buttons that looks like a world above the post box will make it a link.

Thank you Ruth for that info.
Shelley, I bound the frame in soft cotton tape so I could stitch the shade onto it. However, I have made shades where I've just slipped the new one over the existing. This is OK if both shades are fairly thin, otherwise you wouldn't get much light through.
This, I made flat, I used one of Anns favourite tools - the Tupperware star lid to rub, then rolled a bit. I thought the veg. matter might break up, but it was fine, I think it had probably absorbed enough water to fepp it maleable.
I then dyed it in the onion skins dye.

You guys are just the most annoying people!!! Honesty seeds are available from Amazon and etsy. I don't think it will do well in my area, but I might try anyway.
I got a tutorial for a splat and now I have to go look for a tupperware lid. My heavens, what's next?
